Congratulations to Jeffrey Cusat who was elected as the new Mayor of Hazleton this past November. Mayor Cusat recently took his oath of office, administered by Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice and Hazleton native, Correale Stevens, on Monday, January 4th.
Bill Rinaldi has been an avid supporter of Cusat, who defeated both incumbent Joe Yannuzzi in this year’s primary election as well as Councilman Jack Mundie in November’s general election.
Cusat plans to lead the City of Hazleton in a new direction that will promote business growth and curb the crime the city has faced in the past. According to Cusat, raising the moral of Hazleton’s citizens is extremely high on his priority list:
“It’s apparent that the morale of the city is not very good,” he said. “I have created a team that will give us new hope.”
Part of his plan to revitalize the city includes working with code enforcement to address the blighted properties in and around the downtown as well as increasing the police presence in Hazleton.
We wish Mayor Cusat the best of luck in his pursuit of creating an environment in Hazleton that is both ripe for business prosperity and safe for city residents.
